Come join us! Under the direct supervision of the executive director, the Maintenance Associate is responsible for performing duties related to housekeeping, facility maintenance, building repairs, and landscaping for the Geneva Family YMCA.

Essential Functions

Provides excellent service and maintains positive relations to members, guests, program participants, and co-workers in the Y.

Performs basic building maintenance repairs and upgrades.

Operates equipment and machinery safely.

Performs landscaping and grounds duties to provide a safe and presentable property year-round.

Performs cleaning tasks to ensure effective housekeeping of the facility as assigned and ensures member satisfaction.

Ensures that all safety and risk management standards are adhered to.

Reports unusual conditions and/or foreseeable problems to management.

Develops ability to work without constant direct supervision.

Advises executive director on maintenance and custodial issues and projects as requested.

Works alongside staff to ensure upkeep and operations of facilities and equipment.

Performs all other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Maintenance Employees-ensure unused rooms and closets remain locked; routinely monitor high-risk locations (locker-rooms and bathrooms), etc.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Being able to stand and walk for duration of shift.

Being able to climb ladders

Being able to crawl into awkward spaces

Being able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time

Being able to use their hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls

Being able to bend or twist their body

Being able to kneel, stoop, crouch, or crawl
