Genesis Project of Northern Colorado is Hiring a Resident Advisor Near Greeley, CO

In search of a mission-minded individual to support a faith-based nonprofit that caters to vulnerable single moms. The Resident Advisor lives on site and is responsible for maintaining a positive group living environment, coordinating activities, and monitoring security to ensure a safe and healthy environment for Genesis Project of Northern Colorado participants and their families.

The ideal candidate will exhibit our core values: we act Christ-like, we preserve dignity, we love, and we are courageous. They should also be flexible, self-directed and able handle a wide variety of job duties. Compensation for this position is a monthly stipend of $200-$400, depending on experience. A fully furnished one-bedroom apartment is provided at no cost in order that the Resident Advisor be available for emergencies. Utilities, internet, trash, pest control and laundry facilities are included.The position requires up to 15 hours of work per week and allows 1 weekend off per month. Resident Advisors may work other jobs or attend school while holding the position at Genesis.

Genesis will consider candidates that need to complete an internship and work with educational programs to provide required documentation to meet educational program needs.

About Us:

The Genesis Project of Northern Colorado is devoted to empowering single mothers in their pursuit of a new beginning and accomplishes our mission by providing furnished apartments, family advocacy, life skills training, and therapy to participant families. Our home in downtown Greeley can house up to 6 women and their children at a time. We are donor-funded and rely heavily on volunteers to perform vital roles in running our program.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • The Resident Advisor is on call during the evening, at night, and on weekends, to initiate emergency procedures and assist with medical and property needs.
  • Maintain open communication with participants and staff. Provide positive communication and constructive feedback to participants consistent with the Genesis program policies. Address any immediate safety and/or security concerns with participants and ensure prompt communication with staff both verbally and in writing.
  • Ensure all community areas are clean and provide a safe and healthy living environment at all times. This will include monitoring assigned chores for compliance and reporting unacceptable standards.
  • Actively participate in regularly scheduled Genesis dinners and meetings. Coordinate clean-up and provide feedback to staff regarding overall success or concerns.
  • Greet Genesis visitors including maintenance staff, volunteers and instructors. Provide tours of designated areas and introductions as required.
  • Assist in other security and household tasks as needed.
  • Support the Genesis Project and participants in special projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Work experience or education in family studies, social work, counseling, case management, human services, or peer support. OR
  • Genesis program Phase One or Phase Two graduate or alumni or graduate of similar program.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to handle sensitive and confidential situations with diplomacy
  • Ability to take initiative, multi-task, be a team-player, adapt to shifting priorities and prioritize work
  • Ability to function independently and exercise good judgment in a variety of situations
  • Possess strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Possess administrative, organizational, analytical and problem solving skills
  • Good working knowledge of Google Calendar
  • Ability to walk up and down 3 flights of stairs multiple times daily without assistance
