POSITION SUMMARY

Licensed Practical Nurse includes all aspects of Basic Nursing Care. The LPN will be responsible for trimming toenails, filing nails, reducing thick nails if needed, callouses and corns reduced or removed, and removing ingrown part of nail if required. The nurse will exam the foot structure of the patient, ensure foot health and proper circulation of diabetic and non diabetic patients. The nurse will ensure all diabetic patients is wearing proper diabetic shoes, to protect their feet from harm and supply comfort and support at the same time.

4. Provide support for physicians and other nursing maintaining an acceptable level of productivity and consistency with all tasks as assigned.

5. Ensure and uphold the confidentially requirements of all patient records and manage all daily task and activities consistent with HIPAA, state and federal laws and regulations, as well as the clinic's policies and regulations regarding confidentiality and security.

6. Acknowledge all patients and their families/caregiver.

7. Develop and ensure effective, positive relationships within and among the clinic staff, as well as with patients, vendors, contractors, and related resources.

Professionalism

8. Ensure all actions, job performance, personal conduct and communications represent the organization in a highly professional manner at all times.

9. Uphold and ensure compliance with and attention to all corporate policies and procedures, as well as the mission and values of the organization.

PRIMARY TASKS & DUTIES

1. Serve as an advocate and health educator to patients, families, and the community.

2. Promote health, to prevent disease and help patients cope with illness.

3. Prepare patients for and assist with examinations, administer injections, maintain records on the Electronic Medical Record.

4. Assess the condition of the patient’s lower extremities, and perform basic foot care; including cleaning feet, clipping nails, and removing calluses with a file.

5. Ensure confidentiality during visits and telephone contacts and assure the patients understand instructions provided by the provider.

6. Ensure correct fit of diabetic shoes for patients with measurements and order diabetic shoes per procedure.

7. Provide each patient with the information they need to care for their feet properly.

8. Reviews each patient chart before appointments compiling their needs and services.

9. Schedules return appointments for the patients and ensure understanding of these dates and time.

10. Responsible for completing patient's encounters in the Electronic Medical Record accurately and in a timely manner.

11. Responsible for taking initial and interim history and vital signs if Triage Staff is unavailable.

11. Accountable for notifying their supervisor for any emergencies or unplanned changes in their schedule that require coverage.

12. Responsible for maintaining required education by attending in-services provided by the office.

13. Serve as relief coverage for all qualified positions, this additional schedule will be decided by supervisor.

14. Any other duties as deemed appropriate by the LPN's Nursing Supervisor.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/KEY COMPETENCIES

1. Function in a multi-tasking, multiple priorities environment, while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.

2. Communicate with a diverse employee population.

3. Utilize a wide variety of office technology and tools to collect, enter, process, file patient records and documentation.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Education

  • Must have a current License to practice as a License Practical Nurse in the State of South Carolina.

Professional

  • Four years of professional experience in a Health Care Organization, working directly with Medical Providers and Patients.
  • Communication, customer service or working with the general public, preferably in a medical care facility.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.

Physical/Environmental

  • Ability to interact with computer screen for up to six hours at a time (visual acuity required).
  • Must have manual dexterity for use of keyboard. Ability to stand for periods of up to two hours. Ability to communicate via phone, mail and in person to resolve patient issues.
  • Capacity to function in a sometimes stressful, multi-tasking environment
