Summary: To provide quality dental care in all phases of general dentistry in accordance with generally accepted dental practices, standards, and levels of care established by Genesis Community Health, Inc.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide quality dental care for all Health Center patients in all phases of general family dentistry, emphasizing prevention according to the scope of practice authorized by the Des Moines Health Center's Board of Directors
• Assist Dental Director & President/Executive Director in the supervision and performance evaluations of Dental Assistants and Dental Hygienists
• Provide relief of pain and palliative treatment for emergency patients
• Supervise and check prophylactic treatments administered by Dental Assistants
• Supervise Dental Assistants to ensure that operatory rooms are adequately stocked with instruments and supplies
• Review patient’s medical history making sure significant findings are considered and addressed prior to patient treatment
• Accurately post billable services to patient’s account following treatment
• Explain to patient/parent recommended treatment plans and answer questions as they relate to patient care.
• Refer patients to specialists as needed
• Prescribe, prepare, and administer drugs or medicine to patients as needed
• Assist Dental Director and President/Executive Director in developing policy recommendations for consideration by the Genesis Community Health Board of Directors.
• Maintain adequate provider productivity according to established agency productivity standards
• Other duties as assigned

• Knowledge and excellent understanding of dental hygiene practice and protocol.
• Ability to constructively participate in a clinical quality improvement.
• Ability to meet deadlines.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to write routine and correspondence.
• Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
• Ability to operate sterilizer, various dental instruments, and x-ray equipment.
• Bilingual skills helpful but not required.
• Ability to read and respond to emails in a timely fashion.
• Ability to identify and maintain confidential/HIPPA information.

Education and Experience:

• Graduation from an accredited dental school
• Licensed in Florida as a DDS.
• Minimum of five years clinical experience preferred.
• Current CPR (BLS) certifications. ACLS preferred.
• Valid DEA License

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $50.00 - $65.00 per hour

Expected hours: 24 – 32 per week
