Job Title:
Integrated Arts Education Teacher for Students with Disabilities
Job Summary:
The Integrated Arts Education Teacher for Students with Disabilities is responsible for creating a safe and creative classroom environment for the students to express their thoughts, energies and behavior in a positive manner through the art making process so that students may increase appropriate forms of self-expression.
Essential Duties (May include, but not limited to):
1. Conducts classes using integrated arts as a basis to enhance and/or improve student competence in the basic learning skills, develop intellectual skills of rational thought and creativity, progress through achievement as well as develop positive and realistic concepts of others.
2. Demonstrates knowledge of course content for classes.
3. Develops daily lesson plans to include objectives, materials, instructional plans and classroom activities aligned with the district curriculum; organizes daily class time so that instruction can be accomplished within allotted time.
4. Provides collaboration with all building staff in reference to student learning and behavior.
5. Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior to provide an orderly, productive classroom environment and ensure a high level of safety in the classroom at all times.
6. Participates in professional development opportunities to keep abreast of new developments in area of integrated arts education.
7. Maintains records of student performance in order to evaluate student progress.
8. Attends and participates in staff meetings and other professional meetings as directed by GISD administration.
9. Develops and coordinates student programs and performances with other GISD staff.
10. Assists staff with individual room projects aligned with the district curriculum.
11. Provides consultation to staff, parents/guardians, and others regarding integrated arts instruction.
12. May be responsible for assisting in the planning and implementation of behavior management procedures for students.

13. Performs all other school duties and assignments as appointed.
14. Consults, counsels and collaborates with parents, school personnel, students and appropriate community agencies regarding behavioral and educational concerns developed in a multi-tiered system of support.
15. Follows the Michigan Department of Education Integrated Arts Curriculum.
16. Consistently models Win-Win leadership.
