Responsible for overseeing all aspects of the safety and maintenance of the facility and grounds, the provision of utilities, the restoration and renovation of the facility and new construction. Oversees all functions of the Plant Operations, Housekeeping, and Security Departments. Performs all responsibilities in accordance with hospital policies and procedures and local, State, and Federal standards and regulations governing the facility to ensure safe, secure and comfortable operations. Responsible for maintaining Environment of Care and OSHA standards in accordance current federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations and The Joint Commission and Emergency management Systems. Serves as Safety Officer for the facility.

Supervisory Responsibility:

Supervises the following positions: Engineers, Maintenance Techs, Housekeeping/Environmental Services Staff, and Security Staff where applicable.

Position Qualifications:

• Associate’s degree required, Bachelor’s degree preferred, in Environmental Health and Safety, Hospital Maintenance Engineering, or related field.
• Management experience preferred.
• Certification in HVAC preferred.
• Intermediate computer skills including electronic mail, Microsoft Word, and spreadsheets.
• Understanding of the regulatory standards of Joint Commission, Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services, Emergency Management Systems, and Federal Regulatory standards of CMS.

Key Responsibilities / Job Accountabilities:

• Understands the JCAHO Environment of Care standards.
• Knowledge of basic construction to include HVAC, electrical, plumbing, etc.
• Understanding of Life Safety, Emergency Management, Utility Management, Fire Safety, Medical Equipment, Safety and Security.
• Ensures that the department meets all licensing and accreditation standards and laws.
• Conducts safety, fire drills, and code drill within schedule of meet accreditation standards.
• Responsible for preserving the good condition of infrastructure and ensure the facility is safe and well-functioning.
• Manage the upkeep of equipment and supplies to meet health and safety standards

Additional Skills / Qualifications:

• Develops, implements, and evaluates a system of work orders which are completed in a timely manner.
• Plan and coordinate all installations (telecommunications, heat, electricity etc.)
• Oversee equipment and utility contracts.
