Generate Upcycle is Hiring an EHS Manager Near Buffalo, NY

Generate Upcycle is looking for an EHS Manager to join our team in the Buffalo, NY area!

The EHS Manager facilitates compliance with health and safety, ensures the business adheres to safety regulations and performs necessary reporting. Operations include, but are not limited to, anaerobic digestion, wastewater treatment and composting. This position ensures the company is compliant and works closely with the Operations and Development teams. This position will assist in preparing the Company to meet future compliance needs as we grow.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Drive the Safety culture by acting as an ambassador for Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental programs and in accordance with the Company vision and values.
  • Coordinate, implement and administer all required quality, safety, health and environmental programs to ensure health, safety and environmental compliance in accordance with legislation, internal policies.
  • Works with the site leadership team to review accident/incident investigations, determine root cause and recommend and/or implement corrective actions.
  • Maintains awareness and advises management concerning future regulatory changes and requirements with assistance.
  • Coach employees, supervisors and management on Workplace Safety, Policy and Procedures, best practices and principles.
  • Coordinate the collection of EHSQ performance metrics and prepare reports as required.
  • Coordinates employee health surveillance evaluations as required by company polices, Workplace Safety and Insurance Board and legal requirements.
  • Assist in maintaining the Production System (EHMS) and related programs to support compliance. Develop and implement E, Q, H&S programs in consultation with all departments and EHS team.
  • Perform, participate and support health & safety and environmental audits and corrective action.

Education, Experience and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Environmental or similar field required.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience, with strong knowledge of safety regulatory requirements required.
  • Industrial hygiene knowledge preferred.
  • CSP or similar certification preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Excellent computer skills, proficiency in Office Suite (primarily MS Outlook, Excel and Word)
  • Excellent attention to detail and follow up skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent data management skills
  • Strong process-improvement, organization, and project management skills
  • Independent thinker, ability to work alone with minimal supervision.
  • Creative problem-solver and troubleshooter

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
  • Must walk on uneven terrains on high and low temperatures days.

Work Environment

  • Positions functions in several different environments which includes a professional office and field environment.
  • Travel required, 50-75%.
