Job Summary: The Release Engineer assists in the implementation and support of the company’s direction for release management tools and processes for internal application development. Ensures the process requirements of release management are properly documented, followed and in place. Assists the Project Management Organization in managing project release cycles and interdependencies to ensure milestone adherence and ensures the integrity of the release can be measured. Works with a team of Release Engineers to utilize and build the CI/CD pipelines, operate releases within documented guidelines and work with application developers, QA engineers and database administrators to coordinate successful releases of the company’s priority software. Supports and maintains proper code repositories and pipelines for development of proprietary software applications. This position reports directly into the Release Manager.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist in implementation of release process with experience in tools such as JIRA, JINKINS, BITBUCKET, SonarQube, Selenium, Redgate.

• Assist in developing, maintaining pipelines for building out CI/CD across releases, including but not limited to working with Microservices, AWS, JAVA.
• Manage risks and resolves issues that affect release scope, schedule, and quality.
• Measure and monitor progress to ensure application releases are delivered on time and within budget, and that they meet or exceed expectations.
• Assist in coordinating release content and effort based on the service request backlog, pending service requests, third party applications, or operating system updates
• Assist in coordinating work between different teams at different locations.
• Assist in conducting Release Readiness reviews, Milestone Reviews, and Business Go/No-Go reviews.
• Produce Deployment Documentation, Run Books and Implementation Plans.
• Communicate release details and schedules to the business as required.
• Negotiate, plan and assist in managing all release activities with the business.
• Work with colleagues to understand impacts of branches and code merges.
• Continually work towards making improvements in the release process.
• Assist in coordinating Go-Live activities including the execution of the deployment plans and checklists.
• Participate in CAB meetings to discuss release scope and/or roadblocks.
• Maintain repository and help manage key information such as build and release procedures, dependencies, and notification lists.
• Provide 24/7/365 IT support to the business.
• Assist in developing, contributing, implementing, and enforcing appropriate IT policies and procedures necessary to align with departmental and company objectives.
• Performs other duties as assigned by Release Manager.

Required / Desired Knowledge

• Experience in configuring, managing, customizing and working with JIRA, JENKINS, BITBUCKET integration.
• Advanced knowledge of software development lifecycle.
• Demonstrated ability to coordinate cross-functional work teams toward task completion.
• Formal training in project management practices preferred.
• Advanced written and verbal communication skills are a must.
• Desired knowledge in plugins that integrate with JIRA in order to provide metrics, reporting, analytical data and continuous integration and deployment of releases based on the scope of the company release process.
• Solid understanding of project management principles preferred.

Experiences and Skills:

• 2 – 6 years of previous release and/or project management experience
• 3 – 6 years of experience in information systems operations environment in systems analysis or development

Education/Certifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, related field, equivalent experience
