Schedule: Full-time- 40 hours per week. M-F. Must be flexible on starting time and weekend work.
Starting Pay: $19.00 - $25.00 per hour depending on experience, licensing, and certifications.

What you will be doing:

As a Vegetation Management Technician, you will play a vital role in reducing noxious and invasive weeds at a variety of locations, including private residences, industrial sites, open spaces, and pastures. You will utilize a range of equipment, such as off-road ATV's, UTV's, pickup trucks, hose reels, and backpack sprayers. While prior experience operating outdoor power equipment and familiarity with pesticide usage are preferred, they are not required. We value enthusiasm and a willingness to learn!

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Use various equipment to apply herbicide products for control of noxious and invasive plants.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and proficiency in applying various types of chemicals, including pre/post-emergent, selective/non-selective, and broadleaf herbicides.
  • Operate powered equipment such as ATV’s UTV’s and tractors.
  • Follow proper procedures for chemical handling, storing, loading, mixing, and applying.
  • Identify common ornamental, native and non-native trees, shrubs, and herbaceous species.
  • Adhere to General Tree Service Standards regarding paperwork, equipment, and production.
  • Demonstrate exceptional customer service and maintain positive internal relations.
  • Uphold on-the-job safety practices and contribute to maintaining a safe work environment.
  • Assist in other related tasks as assigned, such as supporting other departments as needed.

Requirements:

  • Clean driving record with no DUI's, reckless operations, or similar violations in the last five years
  • Capability to lift 50 pounds and walk several miles daily.
  • Willingness to occasionally work weekends and early morning hours.
  • Adaptability to work outdoors in varying and adverse weather conditions.
  • Digital dexterity and muscle coordination necessary to control field equipment.
  • Proficiency in following written and verbal instructions in English.
  • Ability to maintain written records and demonstrate legible written skills.

An Ideal Candidate:

  • Is dependable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
  • Has a positive attitude and dedication to providing excellent customer service.
  • Is organized, detail-oriented, and has effective communication skills.
  • Possess an Oregon Department of Agriculture Commercial Pesticide Applicator license.
  • Has experience handling and applying pesticide products.
