Back up surgery scheduler, pre-authorization of surgeries

Essential Functions:

People:

a. Knowledge of surgery schedules/ blocks/facility contacts w/ phone & fax

b. Communicate with various OR staff/ ordering what’s needed for cases

c. Properly document and order tests in EHR

d. Notifying Doctors of next day schedules via Email/ Pagers/ Outlook & Google

e. Able to multi-task, prioritize duties

f. Knowledge of the different types of surgeries & Doc’s preference when scheduling

g. Knowledge of how to set up pre-op scans/ tests needed for surgery

h. Knowledge of how to handle add on/ emergency same day or next day cases

i. Basic understanding of call schedules, General, Trauma & VA, and who to send them to

j. Knowledge of how to fill out surgery order forms, send H&P’s, consents and discharge summary for surgery, Knowledge of ICD-10 & CPT codes.

k. Ability to Pre-Authorize all surgery’s & radiology procedures and document it in the HER & be at least 2 weeks out from surgery.

l. How to handle subpoena’s/ legal issues requiring the Doctor to testify

m. Maintain time on station report

n. Monthly surgery counts report

o. VA clinic time on station and communicate with the VA

p. Notify doc’s of outdated H&P’s for surgery.

Finance:

a. Ability to Pre-Authorize all surgery’s & radiology procedures and document it in the EHR & be at least 3 weeks out from surgery

b. Communicate with billing via e-bridge of surgical cases

c. Knowledge of ABN if needed by patient to sign

d. Knowledge of insurance & billing protocols explained to patients

e. Posting Surgeries to e- bridge for PRS to bill

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.00 - $21.00 per hour
