General Security Services is Hiring a Fire Alarm Inspector Near Minneapolis, MN

Summary:

GSSC is privately owned and locally operated, seeking an experienced Electronic Security Service Technician based out of Minneapolis to join our growing team! Founded in 1946, GSSC remains one of the largest privately held security companies in the Midwest.

As a Fire Alarm Inspector, you will interact with customers daily, as you conduct reoccurring fire system inspections in accordance with fire codes. You will work in conjunction with the Customer Service Coordinator to complete all inspection reports and submit them in a timely manner.

Fire Alarm Inspector Job Responsibilities:

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the job responsibilities.

  • Conduct reoccurring fire system inspections in accordance with fire codes.
  • Programming of fire systems.
  • Educate and train customers on fire system operations and functionality.
  • Communicate daily with Customer Service Coordinator on delays, requirements, and general status of inspections.
  • Service systems and resolve inspection deficiencies as needed.
  • Manage individual truck stock inventory, materials, tools, and company equipment.
  • Read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and blueprints.
  • Comply fully with the safety programs of GSSC and the Client.
  • Assist with preventative maintenance of customer equipment.
  • Positively represents GSSC to customers with consistent professionalism.
  • Complete the Record or Completion (ROC) for completed systems.
  • Complete inspection reports for municipality required inspection schedules.
  • File ROC and Inspection reports within the ERP system and required compliance website locations.
  • Print required documents for site storage after an ROC or Inspection.


Fire Alarm Inspector Minimum Qualifications:

  • Hold a valid state driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • 2-5 years of experience installing and/or inspecting and documenting fire alarm systems
  • Working knowledge of UL certification requirements, testing, documentation and service
  • Associate degree required or 2 years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read Blueprints and utilize manufacturer manuals and technical support
  • Ability to be on the On-Call rotation throughout the year including a minimum of one holiday per year, one week at a time (number of weeks within a year are dependent on the number of individuals in the rotation) You will receive extra pay for weeks you are on call.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • PLT Licensed
  • NICET I


Physical, Mental and Environmental Requirements:

  • Employee is required to stand, walk, climb, sit and use hands and fingers.
  • Ability to complete ladder work, operate scissor and boom lifts, move boxes, and lift, up to 50lbs.
  • Reaching, grasping and carrying activities also required.
  • Moderate noise level in the work environment.
  • Although most work is performed inside, occasional outside activities are subject to seasonal temperature fluctuations.
