Requires a Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering or Mathematics field. Also requires 8 years of job-related experience, or a Master's degree plus 6 years of job-related experience.

CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required within a reasonable period of time. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.
Responsibilities for this Position
This position is at the Precision Structures and Optics (PS&O) division and is located in Cullman, Alabama. We provide aerospace structures and systems manufactured from unique materials such as Beryllium, Albemet and special alloys of Aluminum. These structures and systems support both defense applications and scientific systems, and are applied in both space and terrestrial applications. PS&O is the largest supplier of Beryllium structures and systems in the United States.

As an Sr. Advanced Mechnical Engineer you will perform design and analysis for space qualified structures and telescopes. Your designs will meet stringent thermal, structural, and dynamic (shock and vibration) environmental requirements which will be verified though FEA analysis and test. A strong knowledge and/or experience in vibration/shock analysis using FEA tools is required. Desired FEA expertise includes CAD modeling, FEA model creation and analysis for thermal and structural load environments. A strong ability to apply FEA customization applications for advanced analysis capability is desired.

A unique feature of your work at PS&O will involve optical mirrors and telescope systems, with high precision requirements for mirror/telescope performance over all mission environmental conditions. You will work closely with optical engineers to achieve optical performance for both test and mission deployable systems.

As PS&O manufactures structures and mirrors, you will be involved in manufacturing processes, and will be intimately involved in applying specialized automatic polishing machine technology to achieve mirror surfaces.

Salary Note
This estimate represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors (geographic location, etc.). Actual pay may vary. This job posting will remain open until the position is filled.
Combined Salary Range
USD $132,500.00 - USD $142,500.00 /Yr.
