General Dynamics Ordnance & Tactical Systems is Hiring a Maintenance Specialist II Near Mesquite, TX

Major Position Responsibilities

This position will be located at the new GD-OTS facility located in Mesquite, TX. 

SUMMARY: Performs preventive maintenance and repairs on equipment and systems (e.g., mechanical, electrical). Evaluates and recommends equipment improvements to improve availability, capability and yield. Performs equipment failure analyses (including preventive and unscheduled maintenance). Troubleshoots and diagnoses equipment problems. Prepares technical reports to document equipment modifications and equipment maintenance procedures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES

  • Performs routine work in the repair and general maintenance of systems and equipment.
  • Troubleshoots and addresses basic repairs and maintenance including electrical & mechanical tasks.
  • Records maintenance and repair work performed and the costs of the work.
  • Working knowledge of lockout/ tagout procedures and appropriate OSHA standards
  • Support and work with production departments and engineering personnel.
  • Detect and report improper operation, faulty equipment, defective materials and unsafe & unusual conditions to supervisor with improvement suggestions
  • Follow prescribed safety rules and regulations and maintain quality standards
  • Work with Engineering to rebuild, design, and upgrade new existing equipment

Basic Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

  • Associate's Degree or Equivalent Combination of Relevant Education and/or Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred, with discipline of Business Administration/Supply Chain Management.
  • 2-4 Years of relevant experience 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  •  Oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to understand and follow directions.
  • Manual dexterity
  • Ability to lift/move heavy objects. 
  • Physical Stamina
  • Proficient with use of Microsoft Office

Preferred

  • Experience with start ups, such as project planning, and establishing business processes, management systems, and work instructions is desired. This is an exciting opportunity to create the business processes, systems, and culture to stand up a high performing manufacturing operation.

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift up to 45 pounds.
  • Work primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential.
  • Work may require employee to work inside and outside with exposure to changing climate and/or operate machinery.
