VIRGINIA Class Electrical Auxiliary Systems Engineer
Job Description
The VIRGINIA Class electrical auxiliary systems group is seeking a detail oriented and highly motivated engineer to support the Virginia Class Block VI submarine design. The Virginia Class Block VI design adds new capabilities and systems that enable the submarine to accomplish new missions. The group is responsible for motor driven auxiliaries, the secondary propulsion system, lighting, galley equipment and select independent research and development tasks. The group is also responsible for the electrical installation methods for VIRGINIA class, Moored Training Ship, and COLUMBIA Class submarines. All of which will play a role in the success of the Block VI submarine design.
The successful candidate will develop technical specifications, installation drawings and test procedures, manage vendor component development and qualification testing, as well as oversee integration of the system into the submarine arrangement. The candidate will perform engineering calculations in support of the design of these systems.
The successful candidate will work with a multi-disciplinary team of engineers and is capable of working independently. The candidate will be required to develop, maintain, and perform to long-term task plans. The candidate will be able to communicate effectively with system external and internal stakeholders such as upper management, program office, other supporting departments at Electric Boat, and NAVSEA. Additionally, the candidate may be required to support submarine construction events included overseeing system test, qualification, and troubleshooting. Travel will be required for this position. On-the-job training and mentorship will be provided.
