Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Develops, inputs into design, validates, and brings new products to market.
- Specifies precise new product functional requirements.
- Has input into design, tests, and integrates a variety of moderately complex components to produce a final product.
- Evaluates, modifies, and presents a design's overall effectiveness, cost (including cost/benefit analysis), reliability (risk analysis), and safety.
- Plans, executes, and defines product specifications, process validation plans, and validation/verification testing for a variety of moderately complex products and/or components.
- Reviews designs, material specifications, and bills of materials.
- Collaborates with internal manufacturing partners, outside suppliers, designers, and product specialists to optimize moderately complex designs for manufacturability.
- Supports product development plans (schedule, product cost, meeting design inputs).
- Acts as a resource to mentor and teach less experienced engineers.
- Travel to other Generac facilities as necessary.

- Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
- 5 years of relevant work experience.
- Experience in new product design and development.
- Experience in issue resolution and problem solving.
- Experience in applying engineering knowledge and improving products, services, and processes.
- Experience with engine operation, basic physics, and testing processes.
- Experience with engine fuel, ignition, intake, exhaust, and turbo system design and development.
- Understanding thermodynamics and fluid dynamics.
- Understanding of internal combustion engine thermodynamics cycles.
- Demonstrated written communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to perform detail-oriented work with a high degree of accuracy on multiple projects.
- Design experience with a variety of materials (i.e., plastics, aluminum castings, sheet metal) and basic knowledge of material specs and use.
- Ability to translate technical information to all audiences.
- Experience with Microsoft Office products.
- Previous experience with SAP or equivalent ERP.
- Works independently.
