Job Description

Confidential company is seeking a talented and qualified Retina Ophthalmic Technician to join our growing group. As an Ophthalmic Technician, you will provide ophthalmic assistance to physicians while providing patient care. If you are not very experienced but are highly motivated to learn, we will train you!

OPHTHALMIC TECHNICIAN RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Obtain and record patient’s chief complaint, associated symptoms, and complete ocular and medical history.
  • Perform preliminary exams and tests including vision and eye pressure.
  • Record the history and examination in the electronic medical record.
  • Prepare for and assist in minor procedures as directed by the physician.
  • Ensure daily cleaning and stocking of each exam room with necessary supplies as directed by the Technician Manager.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly environment for patients, patient’s family, and clinical personnel. Including, but not limited to maintaining supplies, equipment, and forms, notifying appropriate personnel when cleaning and repair of equipment is needed, following infection control policies, patient safety and facility safety.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Travel between offices.

OPHTHALMIC TECHNICIAN QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:

  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Working knowledge of eye terminology, anatomy, and ocular pharmacology preferred.
  • Carries out job responsibilities in an ethical, effective, and professional manner.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, and ability to relate to patients and fellow employees of diverse backgrounds.
  • General computer proficiency.
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills and multitasking ability.
  • Reports potential compliance issues to direct manager.
  • Understands and complies with policies and procedures, applicable rules, regulations, etc.
  • Maintain a high level of integrity and confidentiality of patient medical information, and comply with all HIPAA regulations.
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality between fellow team members, and employer.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • OSC certification preferred.
  • COA or COT certification preferred.
  • Valid CPR certificate.
  • Retina or General Ophthalmology experienced preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of eye-related disorders and conditions.
  • Customer service oriented with excellent analytical skills.

TO QUALIFY APPLICANTS MUST PASS:

  • A level two background check, which includes a fingerprint check.

WORK HOURS AND BENEFITS:

  • 40 hours work week.
