SYSTEMS DEVELOPMENT PROFESSIONAL

Position Description

 NEAM has an opening for a Systems Development Professional within our Proprietary Development team supporting our Capital and Risk Analytics (CARA®) system. The Systems Development Professional will work closely with Traders and Portfolio Managers to implement industry leading applications that drive NEAM’s investment and risk management process. The position will be involved in the full lifecycle of NEAM’s development process including design, architecture, development, implementation, tuning, production support and maintenance.
Your responsibilities:

  • Work closely within a team of developers to enable NEAM’s investment business through technology
  • Develop risk and analytical models used for making investment decisions
  • Apply big data visualization techniques to translate information into a visual context
  • Identify and implement ways to improve the efficiency of production processes and infrastructure
  • Support and maintain production processes and infrastructure
  • Collaborate with team to develop new features for CARA® platform

Qualifications

We seek an individual who has the proven ability to work and communicate effectively in a small team setting, and to deliver tangible results and practical solutions. This person must have excellent interpersonal, critical thinking skills, and intellectual curiosity. The desire to challenge themselves and improve our software implementations, and the passion to contribute with innovative solutions to serve our investment professionals and global insurance clients.
Key additional requirements include:

  • BA/BS Degree in Computer Science, Quantitative Finance, Statistics, or similarly relevant area
  • Experience with object-oriented programming languages (preferably C , C #, R or Python)
  • Experience developing client server and web-based systems utilizing relational database systems and browser-based
  • languages such as JavaScript
  • Experience with the full systems development lifecycle
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail
  • Adaptable, can adjust priorities to meet fluctuating conditions or needs
  • Financial markets, statistical modelling, and insurance knowledge a plus

  • A deep understanding of building scalable, cyber-secure, enterprise applications
  • An understanding of institutional asset management, investment strategies, risk, fixed income, and equities
