2nd Shift Position

Job Overview: Directs, organizes, plans, while developing self-managing processes. Responsible for digital equipment and maintenance. Maintain high standard for color quality. Manage all incoming print jobs, while maintaining high color and quality standards. Work hands on in the Digital department to achieve the best results possible. This individual will report to the Pre-Press Supervisor.

Key Responsibilities:

  • The Prepress Coordinator will be responsible for preparing graphic files submitted by designers and clients to be output on multiple large format print devices.
  • Perform “preflight” check for required fonts, colors, sizing, resolution and other needed components to ensure completeness prior to submitting to printer.
  • Format, color correct and manipulate files according to client specifications.
  • Setup of files including enlargements, composing and processing of files prior to forwarding to various printers
  • Enter, store, and retrieve information on Mac based equipment
  • Identify missing or problematic components of job and communicate accordingly.
  • Maintain a safe work environment.
  • Maintain color management system
  • Have good understanding of digital substrates.
  • Adhere to and maintain standards of cleanliness of printers, workstations, and department.
  • Train others to operate equipment.
  • Work with Digital Department to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Audit decorated products to verify conformance to specifications and directs setup and adjustments of equipment.
  • Study production schedules and estimates labor hours required to complete orders.
  • Assist manager in working within departmental budget and monitors expenditures, while identifying areas of for savings.
  • Establishes and adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules.
  • Audits, and approves press set-ups. Continually monitors press operations including color reproduction, registration, and print quality.
  • Recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and print quality.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues.
  • Work with outside technicians over phone or in person to resolve equipment issues.
  • Maintain established production quota.
  • Assist Digital department as needed.

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Must be detailed oriented.
  • Strong knowledge of design/layout/image/color editing software is essential, specifically: Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
  • Knowledge of the digital printing process and print file preparation.
  • Ability to address and troubleshoot file issues.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities, multi-task and meet deadlines.
  • Excel, Word and Power Point required
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Must be able to follow detailed instructions.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to follow and create standard operating procedures.
  • Must be able to independently manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to meet/exceed established production standards.
  • Must be able to lift 40 pounds.
  • Good eyesight and attention to detail for color and text proofing.
  • Ability to utilize Continuous Improvement concepts and philosophies on a regular basis.
  • Self-motivated to stay smart by continuously seeking and achieving knowledge from vendors and offsite related training.
