We offer students an education that is designed to prepare them for post-secondary success.SummaryWe are looking for a highly dedicated Speech and Language Pathologist Assistant who will bring a “whatever it takes” attitude to helping children succeed. GIS Speech and Language Pathologist Assistants are responsible for supporting Speech and Language Pathologists with identified speech or language impaired students. GIS staff approach work with a sense of possibility and sees challenges as opportunities for creative problem solving. GIS gives its students an intensive foundation in the core academic subjects with an emphasis on developing the knowledge and skills necessary for success in school and in life. The GIS community holds itself to high standards, cognizant that success can be achieved by all, regardless of challenging circumstances, through teamwork, tenacity and focused dedication. ResponsibilitiesAssist the SLP with speech, language, and hearing screenings without clinical interpretation, using screening protocols specified by the supervising SLP.Assist the SLP with collecting data during assessment of students exclusive of administration and/or interpretation.Follow documented treatment plans or protocols developed by the SLP.Document student performance and progress toward meeting established objectives outlined in individual treatment plans, and report this information to the supervising SLP.Maintains and submits data for Medicaid billing.Maintains high standards of ethical behavior and confidentiality of student information.Help with preparing materials and assisting with other clerical duties as specified by the SLP. QualificationsAn associate’s degree in a SLPA program or bachelor’s degree in a speech language pathology or communication disorders programDemonstration of competency in the skills required of an SLPACommitment to working with underserved students (required)Experience working in a public school (preferred)Strong interpersonal skills and proven ability to work as a member of a teamA deep commitment to develop and contribute to a community of educatorsFlexible and enthusiasticHiring is done without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, sex, age or disability.
