Gelest, Inc., part of the Mitsubishi Chemical Group, is hiring a Senior Product Manager to join our team.
The Senior Product Manager is responsible for the analysis, execution, and management of company product line strategies. This includes execution of new product innovation, product marketing and financial analysis, overall profitability, marketing communication and collateral development and support for assigned products.
A key aspect of this role is the development and implementation of detailed pricing strategies based on both internal constituents and obtaining an understanding of markets. Works closely with General Manager, marketing, sales, R&D, customer service and operations to ensure continuity in product offering and in meeting company goals. Owns product discovery discovers innovative product solutions that deliver value, are usable by target markets and can be delivered with available resources in the required timeframe.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Work with cross functional team to develop and implement product line strategies.
Regularly performs pricing & competitive analysis by customer channel & develops strategies to improve market position and profitability.
Manages product database with product pricing, specifications, and applicable literatures.
Manages product planning, marketing, and managing throughout product life cycle.
Manages and communicates product changes both internally & externally to sales, customer service, operations, et al.
Produces, maintains, and updates annual forecast by product line.
Participate in sales and operations planning (S&OP) process to ensure the operation’s priority is aligned with product line growth strategy.
Produces, maintains, and updates long range forecast and capacity needs by product line.
Collaborates with a wide variety of functional areas such as sales, engineering, marketing, and operations to develop and provide product definitions responsive to customer needs and market opportunities.
Provides financial and technical justification for product selection and definition.
Conducts market research and identifies and tracks market trends in company's industry.
Produces competitive analysis materials comparing product with its key competitors.
Identifies partnering opportunities for complementary third-party products to broaden company's product line.
Ability to participate in key sales situations for the product.
Maintains communications and contacts to collect and analyze technical, financial, schedule, and sales information for product line.
Identifies market potential, establishes pricing and market strategies, estimates potential sales, introduces market, and manages mature product through phase-out.
Provides expertise in particular product area and develops strategies and applicable portions of the company business plan.
Plans, organizes, and coordinates assigned programs to ensure accomplishment of financial/budgetary goals and optimum allocation of resources.
Provide input and collaborate with sales, procurement, operation team to optimize working capital.
Coordinates details of program within the organization with a wide range of functions and individuals.
Works with R&D and Sales team to coordinate product introductions and market exploitation with marketing and sales organizations to ensure maximum penetration of market segment.
Provides continuing product surveillance and management of established product to obtain financial objectives.

Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in business, marketing, chemistry, chemical engineering, material/polymer science or engineering. Advanced degree in business, science or engineering is preferred.
8 years’ experience in chemical industry.
Knowledge of specialty chemical manufacturing, specifically focused on silicones, silanes, and metal organics is a plus.
Excellent speaking and presentation skills are required.
Skilled in working with different functions and effectively leading cross-functional team to achieve desired results.
Highly organized, dependable, detail oriented. Excellent time management and communication skills.
Excellent listening skills, including the ability to identify and isolate customers concerns or objections, in addition to excellent written and oral communication skills.
