Geisinger is Hiring a RN - Registered Nurse - Interventional Radiology Near Wilkes Barre, PA
- Provides nursing care in Radiology as they relate to patient care, imaging and interventional procedures.
- Administers medications and treatments according to policy and procedure.
- Assesses patient responses to medications and testing per protocols and document information in medical record.
- Assures all necessary paperwork and information is present for procedures.
- Prepares patients for procedures, including reviewing history and medication list, etc.
- Assesses patients’ physical status as well as their understanding of the procedure.
- Provides patient and family education.
- Evaluates effectiveness of nursing interventions and revises care based upon patient response to interventions.
- Provides Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support.
- Performs emergency procedures when necessary; transports equipment to patient’s bedside when necessary.
- Starts and regulates oxygen.
- Assists with patient transport as required.
- Assists with therapies including assessing vitals and administering medications.
- Assists with orientation of personnel and students.
- Responsible for assessment of lab results prior to procedures.
- Assist throughout the radiology department with nursing needs.

Work Schedule/Additional Details:
- Hours: Rotation of start times between 6:30A and 8:30A
- Shifts are 8 hours in length
- On-call rotation - will be fully reviewed in interview. 30-Minute Call Time
- Limited travel to cover Geisinger South Wilkes Barre clinic
- Union: Yes
- BLS, ASLS, PALS and certification for moderate sedation will need to be obtained once hired if you presently do not have them
- Some of the most common procedures:
- Port a cath insertion
- Cryo-ablation
- Microwave ablation
- Chemo embolization
- G-tube insertion /placement/ exchange
- Kyphoplasty
