GENERAL PURPOSE Operations Technicians in the packing department are responsible for all end of line activity packing finished product. An Operations Technician is part of our pay for skills program and allows individuals to continue to build skills providing opportunity to increase their compensation. Skill blocks may include skills in Assembly, Machine Operation or Material Handling. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Ensure that manufactured items are ready for shipment by placing them into containers, sealing and labeling the items, and preparing the item for transport. Responsible for cleaning packaging materials, loading items into containers, and weighing and labeling the items appropriately. Receive, store, and pull raw and finished goods through the facility in a safe, accurate and timely manner, along with the proper part tracking. The position follows standard work methods and practices safe work habits to ensure production is as efficient and safe as possible. Required to learn additional functions through cross-training in other departments. Performs additional responsibilities as requested to achieve business objectives. QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Education/Experience One of the following is required: (1) High school diploma or its equivalent (GED for example), (2) work experience which demonstrates performance competency Skills and Abilities Competent in basic math skills such as counting, adding, and subtracting. Ability to work cooperatively within the team as well as with members of other teams to meet goals. Demonstrated willingness to adapt to a continually changing environment. Required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms for the duration of the shift.
