Job Description:

The Purchasing Specialist will be responsible for assessing product needs daily, issuing apparel purchase orders to suppliers, and communicating updates to warehousing, production, and customer service to ensure the company meets customer-driven velocity metrics. This hybrid role will be cross-trained in collateral areas of responsibility to support other administrative teams and ensure overall company success.

Responsibilities include:

  • Compile and review daily product/inventory reports and purchase apparel as needed.
  • Collaborate with the Scheduler and Planner(s) to ensure optimal inventory levels for seasonal demand.
  • Track inbound orders through product receipt.
  • Reconcile aged open purchase orders and assist the Receiving team in resolving any inbound discrepancies.
  • Purchase shipping and office supplies along with MRO.
  • Minimize stockout situations and product backorders.
  • Communicate product shortages and provide backorder status updates cross-functionally.

Skills & Qualities:

  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficient with Microsoft office tools, Outlook, Excel (), and Teams.
  • Experience using MS Dynamics or other MRP systems.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Work independently and as part of a team.
  • ‘Can Do’ attitude and willingness to take on new tasks as requested.
  • Energetic and motivated.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Overtime may be required during peak production seasons.

Experience & Education

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 2-3 years prior experience in a high volume, lean production environment.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Talking, listening, and typing for extended periods of time.
  • Manipulation of computer mouse and other small wrist movements required for digital design tools.
