Job Description Summary

GE’s Power Conversion business, part of GE Vernova, provides electrification systems that are critical to customers’ power and energy needs for their high-performance applications. We work with some of the world’s major energy, maritime and industrial organizations, helping to enable a transition to energy efficiency and decarbonization through our specialist motors, drives and control technologies.
The Lead Project Management Specialist - Project Planning is responsible for working closely with key stakeholders, project managers, technical experts and project leads on the creation and maintenance of project schedules. In this role, the Planning Specialist will ensure that the project goals and deliverables defined with the customer are captured and maintained properly within the tool to maximize on-time delivery and influence future program management decisions and actions. Additionally, the Planning Specialist will partner with the Operations team to promote the schedule as a beneficial, integrated management tool that provides quality analysis of the data and ensuring that it meets the reporting standards. The Planning Specialist will report to the Marine Operations Leader and support a single, multi-year program in the Marine portfolio.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Develop a deep understanding of project scope and deliverables using experience of similar large, complex, electrical systems and construction projects with multiple suppliers and partners
  • Lead the development of detailed schedules, in Primavera P6, from cradle to completion in alignment with customer requirements. (i.e., project/contract milestones, design, procurement, manufacturing, installation and close out)
  • Build relationships with GE internal suppliers and external suppliers, installation and construction partners, and customer to create and maintain a fully integrated schedule
  • Progress all parties with a clear understanding of their schedules, risks and issues to maintain a realistic schedule and be able to effectively report out the status and issues and support corrective actions. Proactively visit the suppliers and partners as appropriate to maintain a clear picture of their progress and plan; proactively visit the installation site as appropriate during the different phases of the project to maintain and drive the plan with the suppliers, partners and the customers
  • Generate graphical reports using Primavera P6 and Microsoft Excel for both internal and external customers providing weekly/monthly accurate and realistic assessment of project schedules, identify, and report problem areas, work with the project and engineering teams to track solutions and corrective actions
  • Constantly monitor OTD (On Time Delivery) performance and objectives per schedule and work with project team to successful reach project milestones

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college (or high school diploma/GED)
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in project planning
