Job Description
JOB DESCRIPTION : DENTAL TREATMENT- Expanded duties as licensed by the board of professional regulations for certified dental assistant- Will polish clinical crowns of teeth- Will apply topical fluoride gels and varnish- Will place temporary restorations and sealants- Will remove sutures- Will fabricate temporary crowns, pack cord and cement temporary crownsFOUR HANDED DENTAL TECHNIQUE- Will review medical history with the patient / guardian and take blood pressure- Will complete the signs and symptoms and objective data of the SOAP notes and write up in the computer notes- Will use proper barrier techniques- Will pass instruments while correctly retracting tongue and / or cheek and while suctioning- Will coordinate assisting methods, activities and actions with dentist’s actions- Will adjust equipment and light source as needed by dentist- Will mix restorative materials and cementsPROPER OPERATORY SETUP- Will ensure instruments and equipment are out and in place before patient arrives- Must be able to lift at least 10 poundsRADIOGRAPHS- Will maintain radiographic certification as licensed by the Board of Professional Regulations- Will use ScanX phosphoric plates and EagleSoft softwareSTERILIZATION- Will properly clean and sterilize instruments following dental clinic procedures- Will clean autoclave and clean the disinfect counters and environmental surfaces- *SKILLS / EDUCATION NEEDED : Florida Dental Radiology Certificate FL Dental Expanded Duty Certificate FL driver’s license Current / active CPR certificate Must have a working knowledge of standard dental procedures,, techniques and material used in the dental clinic Must have a working knowledge of OSHA standards, dental infection control and hazardous dental materials Must have a positive, helpful attitude toward dental director, dentist, students, staff, patients and their families Must have the ability to enter information into EagleSoft electronic oral health record Must have ability to enter information into EagleSoft electronic oral health record Bilingual (English / Spanish) highly preferred Pediatric Experience highly preferred Required / Desired Skills SkillRequired / DesiredAmountof Experience Ability to speak and understand English Required Must have a Florida Dental Radiology Certificate, Florida Dental Expanded Duty Certificate and CPR certificate RequiredAbility to pass a level 2 background, drug screen and MVR RequiredExperience working as a dental assistant Required 1 YearsExperience performing the duties of Dental Treatment, Four Handed Dental Techniques, Proper Operatory Setup, Radiographs and Sterilization Required 1 YearsExperience using Eagle Soft, ScanX phosphoric plates and HMS computer software Highly desired 6 MonthsExperience with pedicatic patients Highly desired 6 Months Bi-lingual (English / Spanish) Highly desired
