GCE Operating Company LLC is Hiring a Facilities Maintenance I Near Bakersfield, CA

Job Summary:

Under the supervision and guidance of the Maintenance Supervisor/Planner, the Facilities Maintenance I will provide general maintenance for building, general yard, and biofuels/refinery maintenance.


Essential Functions:

  • Ensure compliance with safe work practices

  • Recognize and identify potential hazards
  • Evaluate changes in work environment with respect to impact on safety of self and others, and understand potential threats
  • Perform general building maintenance including light and fixture replacements, painting, ceiling tiles, plumbing, HVAC PMs, etc.
  • Clearing weeds and general landscaping maintenance of buildings, sprinkler repairs Support building janitorial services as required
  • Office set up including movement of furniture, file cabinets, boxes, etc.
  • Support warehouse activities including stocking and inventorying
  • General cleanup of various buildings and storage areas Transport vehicles for repair and servicing
  • Light vehicle maintenance and washing
  • Conduct preventive maintenance on safety showers/eye washes and other safety equipment
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned and trained

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Must hold a Driver License with excellent driving record and be able to pass pre-employment background screening and drug screening

  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Be able to respond to emergency calls as needed including weekend and evenings
  • Must be available for call outs including weekends, holidays and nights
  • Capable of operating manlift
  • Basic understanding of HSSE requirements including confined space entry, lock out/tag out, fall protection, etc.
  • Ability to follow instructions from supervisors or senior maintenance workers
  • Knowledge of general carpentry and repair
  • Ability to use hand tools and power tools
  • Excellent organizational, time management skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Past industrial maintenance experience


Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to pass a physical test of pushing, pulling, and lifting a minimum of 50 lbs
  • Prolonged periods of standing and walking
  • Ability to perform repetitive movements over long periods of time
  • Must be able to climb ladders and or stairs on tanks, vessels and structures; wear respirator; work around equipment containing high pressures and temperatures and various chemicals
  • Must be physically able to climb ladders, bend, or crawl into awkward spaces
