GATEWAY SCHOOL DISTRICT is Hiring a School Psychologist Near Monroeville, PA

Position Title: School Psychologist

Location: Gateway Administration Office

Reports To: Director of Pupil Services

Term: 10 month, Act 93

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in School Psychology
  • Must have Valid Pennsylvania Certification in School Psychology
  • Preferred five (5) year’s experience in the public school environment as a teacher, counselor and/or psychologist
  • Knowledge in the areas of school law and special education
  • Strong leadership and personal drive
  • Passion for children and their families
  • Strong communication skills
  • Demonstrated leadership ability in working with students, staff, parents and general public
  • Clearances - Current Child Abuse (Act 151), FBI (Act 114) and Criminal Record (Act 34) required
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable

Goals:

  • To utilize district resources to meet all state, federal and district timelines for completing evaluation/reevaluation/gifted written reports within required periods.
  • Accounting for administering and directing the psychological services of the district, including identifying students with emotional, educational, and/or adjustment problems and for preparing, implementing, and/or monitoring appropriate educational, supportive, and/or therapeutic programs or services for students in coordination with the Supervisor of Special Education and the Lead Psychologist.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintains the primary responsibility for the majority of referrals and Multi-Disciplinary Evaluations including reviewing referrals, issuing consent forms for evaluation/reevaluation, conducting parent meetings to discuss/present evaluations/reevaluation reports, analyzing psycho-educational assessments, chairing the Multidisciplinary Team, presenting of assessment data and outcomes to parents and teachers, managing compliance timelines and recording activities and parts of the assessments with department secretary.
  • Maintains the primary responsibility for the majority of Gifted Multidisciplinary Evaluations including reviewing referrals, issuing Permission to Evaluate Form, preparing NORA’s (when needed), conducting parent meetings to discuss/present evaluation report(s), analyzing of psycho-educational assessments, chairing the Gifted Multi-Disciplinary Team meetings presenting assessment data and outcomes to parents and teachers, managing mandated compliance timelines and recording activities and parts of the assessments with department secretary.
  • Participate in pre-referral activities and child-find process development to ensure appropriate child-find activities.
  • Maintain a liaison contact , in conjunction with Supervisor of Special Education and Lead Psychologist with the various public entities relative to district psychological services.
  • Serves as a consultant to the student assistance program (SAP), MTSS teams, and PBIS teams across the district.
  • Consult with school counseling department by recommending interventions and allocating resources in response to student needs once building level interventions and resources have been exhausted and contingent upon approval of Supervisor of Special Education
  • Meet with students/facilitate group interventions if appropriate
  • Provide/Participation training and professional development to administrators, teachers and staff as identified by district administration and the Supervisor of Special Education
  • Participate in the IEP Meeting as needed.
  • Available to consult/provide procedural interventions to principals and staff regarding issues that arise with behavior problems
  • Review and sign all teacher generated reevaluation reports to ensure compliance and accuracy of programming recommendations
  • Work and collaborate with the Lead Psychologist on Early Intervention to school -age transition process .
  • Other job responsibilities/duties as deemed applicable by Lead Psychologist and/or district administration.

Confidentiality:

Respect and maintain the highest degree of confidentiality with regard to personnel and student records, personal communication from members of the community, School Board and staff.

Language Skills:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals. Must have the ability to write routine reports, correspondence and to speak effectively before parents, staff and students.

Computer Skills:

Demonstrate proficiency with MAC based personal computers and programs such as Windows, Google, Microsoft Office, spreadsheets, database, and virtual meeting platforms and presentation programs.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Must have the ability to compute rate, ratios, and percent.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form and ability to multitask.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and sit. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel or crouch. The employee occasionally is required to lift and/or push up to 25 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and depth vision perception. Good hearing abilities are required.

An annual evaluation will be conducted based on the PA Department of Education School Psychologist Rubic.
