Job Title: Assistant Principal - K-12
Position Summary: Coordinate instructional programs of NYSED-approved, 12-month Day School/Treatment Program serving emotionally disabled and other health impaired students.
Department Gateway Longview's Education programs support K through 12 th grade students who struggle with behavioral, social, and emotional challenges.

Position Specific Duties/Responsibilities: - Oversee provision of high quality, integrated educational and clinical services, in accordance with the individual needs of students and their families
- Approve courses, materials and instructional objectives for teaching staff. Arrange class scheduling calculated to meet all student needs and maximize teacher effectiveness and utilization. Supervise the timely, accurate, completion of standardized student progress reports
- Ensure teachers receive direction, training, support and mentoring in the preparation and delivery of instruction to the students. Provide direct supervision and feedback to teaching staff in order to enhance the delivery of instruction
- Assist the Associate Director of Student Services in ensuring the development (with district CSEs) and effective implementation of Individual Education Plans and curricula, consistent with NYSED requirements and guidelines. Ensure that students have opportunities to fulfill NYSED curricular standards
- Collaborate on a timely draft of teacher evaluations with the K-12 Principal, and prepare timely drafts of teacher aide/assistant evaluations with input from each respective teacher, for final review by the Principal. Meet regularly with assigned faculty to support and review their performance in meeting all accountabilities of their positions
- Work with Principal and other administrators to provide appropriate discipline based upon student and staff conduct
- Select, train, supervise, evaluate and support educational staff (including substitute personnel) within respective program area; ensure staff are fully competent in carrying out assigned responsibilities
- Ensure that the program represents the least restrictive appropriate educational/treatment environment for each enrolled student, through development and implementation of comprehensive, effective standards and procedures for admission and discharge. Establish practices to maximize opportunities for students to return to less restrictive settings upon discharge
- Complete required reports and documentation in a timely manner. Includes, but is not limited to: performance evaluations, strategic mapping, outcome results, case record review, and Significant Incident Reports
- Collaborate with administration to manage and facilitate student transportation; serve as a point of contact for school districts' transportation departments
- Other duties as assigned

- Passion for working with Special Education students
Qualifications - New York State Certification as teacher, preferably in the area of Special Education
- Certification as School Building Leader (SBL)
- Valid New York State driver's license and adequate auto insurance
