WHAT TO EXPECT
As an innovation leader, we look for ambitious, forward thinking, open-minded and well-rounded individuals to join our global team. Gates is looking for a Tax Director - Financial Reporting who will belocated out of our downtown Denver office. In this role,you will:
  • Lead all aspects of the tax processes for timely and accurate financial reporting, primarily in US GAAP (for SEC reporting), including the quarterly calculations of the year-to-date and forecast effective tax rate, current and deferred tax provisions, taxes payable reconciliation, cash tax forecasts, and related financial statement disclosures.
    • Lead a similar tax process under IFRS for UK statutory reporting as Gates' ultimate parent entity is a UK plc.
  • Be responsible for the entire ASC 740 tax reporting and forecasting process, including calculations, reconciliations, SOX documentation, and financial statement tax disclosures.
  • Interface and coordinate with many cross-functional groups, including global controllers, corporate accounting, treasury, and FP&A, as well as with our external audit firm.
  • Partner closely with tax colleagues (including US, International, transfer pricing) that support the tax reporting process as well as oversee two direct reports.
Key responsibilities (to name a few):
  • Reporting and communicating quarterly tax reporting results, including the tracking of all tax planning initiatives through the ETR and cash tax rate.
  • Overseeing all tax SOX controls, documentation, and support.
  • Researching and resolving tax technical and tax accounting issues and drafting supporting memoranda.
  • Reviewing and consolidating the global FIN 48 calculations, tax account entries and related annual disclosures, and coordinating with local finance teams track global audit developments.
  • Coordinating and communicating directly with other departments, including but not limited to local and regional controllership, technical accounting, treasury, and FP&A that support the tax reporting process.
  • Assisting in coordinating global tax planning, transactional, and compliance efforts, as well as supporting new business initiatives by analyzing tax accounting implications.
  • Providing formal supervision, guidance and development opportunities for the Tax Manager, Financial Reporting.
  • Participating in and/or leading global finance initiatives.
ABOUT YOU

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's in Tax or Accounting
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
  • 10 years of experience in income tax accounting preferably for a global, multinational, publicly traded company
  • Exceptional tax accounting (ASC 740) knowledge, analytical skills and an aptitude to solve all varieties of tax accounting issues in a large, dynamic and collaborative business environment
  • Solid project management, time management, problem solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to research and apply tax laws and US GAAP principles to specific fact patterns
  • Highly efficient, organized, reliable, and a resourceful professional with ability to understand and continuously improve complex processes
  • Ability to prepare quarterly and annual footnote disclosures
  • Knowledge of Sarbanes Oxley, including control processes
  • Works well under pressure to accommodate fixed quarterly deadlines
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.
Preferred:
  • Master's degree in Tax or Accounting
  • Experience with Corptax, Oracle, and/or Hyperion Financial Management
