Gaston County Government is Hiring a Social Worker I.A.T. - FA/IA Near Gaston, NC
The duties listed below are not all of the duties that may be assigned but are those that are considered as essential for an employee to perform.
- Provides in-home services by engaging the family through the Child & Family Team process, developing a case plan, and completing assessments, meeting mandated contact standards concerning home visits for seeing the children, the caretakers, and contacting collaterals, working collaboratively with community partners and professionals, as necessary, to meet the needs of the children and the family, as a whole.
- Petitions the court for removal of children from the home if at risk of harm and provides information to the court on the circumstances of the child.
- Provides services to children found to be abused, neglected or dependent.
- Works with parents and community organizations to provide for the provision of services to reduce the risk of harm to children.
A. Master's Degree in Social Work from an accredited school of social work and one year of
social work experience
B. Master’s Degree in counseling or human services field and two years of directly-related
experience
C. BSW from an accredited school of social work and completion of the Child Welfare
Collaborative and one year of directly-related experience **(Child Welfare positions only)
D. BSW from an accredited school of social work and two years of social work or counseling
experience
E. Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university and four years of directly-related
experience
A copy of a transcript must be included with the application.
A valid driver's license is requiredRelated work experience includes:- Case management
- Social Work
- Child Support, Medicaid, or Food Stamps experience
- D.J.J. experience
- Mental health services that include case management
- Special education work that includes specific case management and referral of services
- Hospital Social Work
- Teaching
- Special education classrooms without case management
- Special Education teacher aid positions*
- Law Enforcement*
- Court liaison services
