General Position Summary:
Assembles, disassembles, and conducts tests/diagnostics on computer systems and electronic components to evaluate the condition of the equipment and determine if reparable; makes repairs and refurbishes in a timely manner; performs final testing on completed units. Documents work in progress, completed work, and other required information in a timely manner.

Performs duties independently with little direction given; operates from established and well-known procedures. Decisions are made within general company constraints but may occasionally require independent decision making. Makes informal departmental budgetary recommendations and is responsible for providing input concerning long-range operational planning.
Mistakes/errors may result in work stoppage; inappropriate repair/refurbishing or equipment can cause misrepresentation of products for resale, all of which could cause customer dissatisfaction and may increase operating expenses and/or decrease revenues as well as creating a negative impact on Garten in the community.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position is not supervisory in nature; however, daily work direction or training may be provided to personnel in subordinate positions.
Interpersonal Contacts:
Has both internal and external contacts. The most common internal contacts are with own department staff and supervisor. The most frequent external contacts are with customers, vendors, and service representatives. The types of interactions, for both internal and external contacts, involve information exchange and problem solving.
Contacts, both internal and external, are usually made at the employee’s own initiative with 80% being over the telephone and/or by email and 20% face to face.
