Garrett County Community Action is Hiring a Community Economic Development Director Near Oakland, MD

We work collaboratively with municipalities, and other stakeholders to address housing and community needs, promote equitable development, and enhance quality of life for all residents in Garrett County.

Job Description:

We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated leader to join our team as a Grant Writer, Program Director, and Municipal Assistance specialist.

This role requires a versatile individual with a combination of project management skills, financial acumen, expertise in grant writing and possess strong communication and advanced organizational skills.

The ideal candidate will be passionate about housing and community development and support the mission of GCCAC. The Community Development Director is responsible for the overall administration of community development projects and all aspects of grant operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Serve as a primary point of contact and liaison between Garrett County municipalities and relevant governmental funding agencies and organizations.

Build and maintain relationships with elected officials, local, state, and federal agencies to advocate for the town's interests, secure funding, and collaborate on regional initiatives.

Provide technical assistance and administrative guidance to municipalities.

Provide grant writing, project management and grant administration on behalf of Garrett County Municipalities.

Assist municipalities in developing comprehensive plans, revitalization strategies, and grant proposals to address priority needs and leverage available funding opportunities.

Stay informed about emerging trends, legislation, and funding programs relevant to rural community development, and disseminate information to municipalities as appropriate.

Maintain accurate records, documentation, and reporting related to activities, outcomes, and impacts of assistance provided to municipalities.

Represent GCCAC in meetings, conferences, and public forums to promote awareness of the organization's mission, programs, and services.

Collaborate with local stakeholders to facilitate partnerships, coordinate initiatives, and implement projects aimed at improving housing affordability, expanding economic opportunities, and enhancing community assets.

Serve as the Community Development leader for GCCAC’s Housing & Community Development Division of GCCAC

Perform other duties as assigned by the Vice President.

Qualifications:

Require at least a Bachelor’s Degree with preference for a Master’s degree or Bachelors plus at least 5 years of experience in related fields

Experience in affordable housing and community development, preferably in a rural context.

Strong understanding of local government and non-profit operations, policies, and regulations.

Knowledge of grant writing, funding mechanisms, and housing & community development strategies.

Excellent communication, interpersonal, and facilitation skills.

Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Demonstrated leadership ability, with experience managing budgets, and driving results in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

Experience

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, project management software, GIS software, and comfortable working in a paperless environment.

Valid driver's license and willingness to travel and attend evening meetings

$52,749
