Overview We are seeking a full-time Tradeshow & Events Specialist 1 in our Olathe, KS location. In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating with supervision all aspects of domestic trade shows and events, including planning, design, installation, dismantling, shipping, storage, logistics, and reporting while also supporting all of Garmin's segments in trade show production and execution.
Essential Functions Plan / coordinate multiple trade show projects as assigned and budget responsibility varies but could be responsible for trade show budgets up to and possibly in excess of $25,000 Attend / participate in multi-disciplinary trade show planning meetings At the direction of the Team Leader, creates end-of-show debrief reports Assist with the management of warehouse and booth assets as directed Onsite assistant for assigned Garmin trade shows / events, communicates key information to Team Leader, and coordinates with venue to ensure show site orders made during the planning process are fulfilled Administer timely execution of booking, installation, service contracts, dismantling, shipping, and storage needs as required to ensure a successful showing at trade events Plan, coordinate, and execute all aspects of trade / consumer / corporate trade show logistics Under direction, may work at office storage facilities and Garmin's warehouse to prep booth assets Provide onsite supervision of contract staff performing the installation, dismantling, shipping and storage of trade show assets and collateral to ensure Garmin's success at trade events Under supervision, negotiate with outside vendors, suppliers, and entities to ensure best price / outcomes for Garmin's presence at trade events Gather / organize input from internal clients on trade show objectives / needs and applies information to each show Create and execute shipping, labor, and packing orders for trade shows Research external resources for trade show materials, gather options for purchases Accurately capture / enter show cost information for budgeting / forecasting in a timely manner Active participant on side projects supporting department and / or company needs Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree AND a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience OR a combination of 5 years of relevant education and experience Must be willing to travel domestically (75% of time) Ability to work with limited supervision on show and project assignments Ability to execute projects with direction from management, while fostering relationship development Must be willing and able to perform manual labor as required / directed, specifically exhibit booth install and dismantling work, and packing / shipping of show freight.
Heavy lifting is required, up to 50 pounds Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including SharePoint Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills Must possess good organizational skills and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks Must be team-oriented, possess a positive attitude, and work well with others Must be comfortable with prioritizing and multi-tasking workload as directed by Team Leader, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, flexible, and challenging environment Willing to utilize personal or Garmin-provided transportation to assist with the movement of trade show assets between off-site storage and HQ as required Must be willing to respond to critical issues via telephone or e-mail which may occur outside of normal working hours, weekends, and / or holidays Novice understanding / use of power and manual tools Desired Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree Certifications relevant to Garmin's product segments Project management experience Garmin International is an equal opportunity employer.
