Job Description

Performs a wide variety of landscape and maintenance tasks related to residential and commercial properties with a focus on turf and soil health. All duties will be performed based on professional training and experience, with minimal supervision. The Maintenance Tech is directly supervised by the Production Manager and is subject to work overtime.

Objectives:

• Make sure the customer is happy!

• Safe application of liquid fertilizer and herbicides in adherence to all local and state regulations.
• Adhering to Company’s safety policy and ensuring that the public will be safe while in contact with customer properties.
• Setting up your truck daily with all equipment needed to complete daily tasks.
• Ensuring that customers are satisfied completely through effective communication.
• Assisting with aeration and seeding during the spring/fall.
• Assisting with brewing and applying Liquid Biological Amendment or LBA’s. 
• Supervising and planning routine on a daily basis.

Essential Functions:

• Performs inspections of lawn, tree, and/or shrubs.
• Communication with customers regarding lawn care services
• Completion of daily route assignments
• Makes recommendations for care and maintenance.
• Safely utilizes and/or applies products and materials according to the labels
• Keeps accurate treatment records.
• Follow all safety policies and procedures
• Responsible for secure and safe maintenance of vehicles and equipment
• Team Leading/Supervising your team should you have one
• Complete daily timesheet, and tickets with accuracy
• Communicate policy changes, start times, job objectives, etc to team members
• Attend weekly team meetings and discuss/follow company policy/procedures
• Operate blower for cleaning sidewalk and driveway of gravel and small debris
• Plant trees, shrubs and flowers according to Gardens of Babylon procedures
• Maintain care and upkeep of equipment and tools
• Keep truck and lot clean and free of clutter
• Load and unload truck
• Rent tools and return to rental vendors free of dirt and debris
• Report any situation that might be potentially hazardous for pedestrians to supervisor
• Perform other duties of a similar nature or level

Minimum Requirements

• Must be able to read and recall regulations and procedures and possess CAT3 certification.
• Must possess a valid Drivers’ License with good driving record and pass MVR.
• Must be insurable on Gardens of Babylon’s Auto Policy
• Willingness to expand knowledge in landscaping and maintenance.
• Team Player Mindset
• Supervisory/ leadership experience
• 1-3 years of spray technician or similar experience is preferred.
• Management/supervisory experience is preferred.
• Bilingual English/Spanish a plus
• Strong work ethic and attention to detail
• Safety focus
• Excellent attendance record
• High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
• Must possess a valid Drivers’ License with good driving record and pass MVR and background screen.
• Ability to work Monday through Friday and occasional Saturday if needed
• Must enjoy working outdoors and be able to work in temperature ranges from teens to over 90 degrees and in varying weather conditions
• Must be able to lift 50 pound bags of fertilizer up to 80lbs, load, unload, push, lift and guide rotary spreader with total weight of 80-100 pounds and maneuver 400 foot spray hose.
• Ability to follow driving directions and familiarity with assigned service area a plus
• Ability to work independently and provide good customer service.

Must be able to work in a multitude of weather conditions that include: rain, heat, cold, snow, etc.
