Job Title: Kitchen Helper/Dishwasher

Reports To: Dietary Manager & Executive Director

Summary of Responsibilities:

The Kitchen Helper/Dishwasher is responsible for washing all dishes and other utensils in the dietary department. He/She will also assist in the preparation of food, cleaning of food prep area, kitchen area. He/She will also help the Dietary Manager and Cooks maintain the provisions of a high quality dining services that consider resident preferences and dietary needs / requirements in compliance with applicable food & sanitation regulation. He/She shall comply with all applicable regulatory measures. All responsibilities will be conducted in a manner that is consistent with the philosophy and mission statement of Garden View.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Cleans, dries, and restocks pots, pans, plates, glasses, and silverware according to proper methods of sanitation.

2. Prepares all varieties of salads, vegetables, cheese, meats, and desserts as directed.

3. Operates, assembles, disassembles, cleans, and de-limes dishwasher.

4. Cleans grease spills properly.

5. Immediately cleans up all floor spills.

6. Demonstrates knowledge of proper infection-control techniques including cleaning, storage, and food handling.

7. Cleans all kitchen surfaces and equipment according to the posted cleaning schedule.

8. Demonstrates safe and proper techniques for chemical/cleaning solution use.

9. Demonstrates knowledge of emergency and safety procedures.

10. Empties trash. Takes trash from staging area to dumpster.

11. Assists Dietary Manager in daily inventory of food items; inventory of delivered goods; unpacking and stocking of delivered goods.

12. Conducts quality assurance test as directed.

13. Maintains high quality standards in sanitation and safety.

14. Assists in controlling overproduction, waste, and theft of all products.

15. Works as a team member to maintain a pleasant, effective work environment.

16. Follows, demonstrates, and supports code of conduct policy and rules.

Other Duties:

Performs other duties as assigned, and in accordance with the philosophy and mission of Garden View Assisted Living.

Must be able to work flexible hours.

Must be able to relate to residents and staff in a courteous and diplomatic manner under all circumstances.

Working Conditions:

• Works in a sometimes hot, humid and/or cold environment.
• Works with equipment such as, but not limited to: Stove, Oven, Griddle, Fryer, Steam Cooker, Ice Box, Freezer, Food Mixer, Food processor, Meat Slicers, Dishwashing equipment, Sinks, Knives, and Various Utensils, Pots and Pans.
• Working Hazards include, but are not limited to: Hot surfaces, cold or freezing surfaces, steam, wet floors, hot oil, heavy lifting, knives and other sharp objects, mechanical equipment and cleaning chemicals.
• Standing for multiple hours, and in duration.

Physical Demands:

Must possess sight / hearing senses, or use prosthetics that will enable these to function adequately so that the requirements of this position can be fully met.

Must be able to relate to residents and staff in a courteous and diplomatic manner under all circumstances.

Must be able to stand for multiple hours, and in duration.

Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $10.00 - $11.00 per hour
