GardaWorld provides a fast-paced, dynamic work environment and nurtures a professional management philosophy that focuses on the continuous learning and development of all employees.
Position Overview
As a Fleet Manager in GardaWorld's Customer Service Support team, you will have an essential role in supporting the efficiency and operations of a diverse transportation fleet. Responsibilities include vehicle procurement, maintenance process management, driver management, safety, and cost optimization, requiring collaboration with stakeholders from both internal teams and external partner vendors, contributing to ongoing process improvement, and working with field operators to ensure compliance with fleet policies and regulations.
Essential Responsibilities
  • Oversee vehicle procurement programs to ensure vendor-provided fleet inventory meets operational and client contractual requirements.
  • Utilize vendor acquisition programs and applications to ensure vehicle upfit timelines are achieved and deliveries of vehicles support contract requirements.
  • Develop and maintain lifecycle cost analysis data to evaluate cost-effectiveness of vehicles, including maintenance, fuel, depreciation, and replacement cycles and make budget recommendations.
  • Audit client-billable vehicle charges to ensure accuracy and maximize profitability.
  • Maintain the vendor-provided fuel card program, monitor costs, and notify stakeholders when out-of-specification charges occur.
  • Recommend strategies to reduce fuel card misuse and theft, increase greater fuel card system efficiency, and develop recommendations to reduce the financial and maintenance impacts of vehicle idling.
  • Monitor vendor-managed vehicle maintenance programs. Assess deficiencies, identify improvements, and promote the effectiveness of preventable maintenance processes and vehicle retention and replacement plans.
  • Track warranty claims and make recommendations for improvements and cost savings.
  • Support driver safety programs and recommend implementation of 'Best Practices' to improve protocols, training, and procedural compliance.
  • Optimize the use of telematics for fleet management, compliance, and efficiency. Stay informed about emerging technologies and recommend their implementation where beneficial.
  • Maintain vehicle registration and licensing for the fleet.
  • Develop benchmarking metrics to compare fleet performance against industry standards, identify areas for improvement, and implement strategies to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Identify eco-friendly practices and recommend improvements aligned with environmental regulations, government incentive programs, and emissions reduction initiatives.
Competence Profile
  • Demonstrate ability to identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (SWOT) for vehicle operations with recommendations to remediate unpredictable circumstances that create liability affecting financial, legal, and strategic concerns, contracts, or fleet utilization.
  • Must understand budgeting, cost control, and financial planning to manage budgets, track expenses, and optimize spending.
  • Demonstrate assessing and mitigating risks related to fleet operations, insurance, and compliance.
  • Proven ability to provide excellent service to internal stakeholders (drivers/leaders) and external customers (vendors/partners).
  • Ability to manage teams effectively using interpersonal skills, collaborate with others to address inquiries, resolve issues promptly with a high level of detail, and maintain positive relationships.
Requirements
  • A Bachelor of Education Degree (BEd) in Logistics, Accounting, Business Administration, Automotive Technology, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Industry-recognized certifications, such as Certified Automotive Fleet Manager (CAFM) or Certified Automotive Fleet Specialist (CAFS) is not mandatory, but preferred.
  • Two to three years experience managing and fleet operations, procurement processes, and supply chain solutions.
  • Experience in a service-related industry with a focus on fleet operations, telematics solutions, procurement, vehicle maintenance, state registrations, vehicle insurance, driver management, dispatching vehicle logistics, and safe driving vehicle operations is desired.
  • Proven work experience as a Fleet Manager or in a similar role is preferred.
