GAP Solutions, Inc. is Hiring a Maintenance Instructor (Part-Time) Near Fort Riley, KS

Provide a planned and coordinated program, course, curriculum, subject or routine instruction in professional, technical, administrative, or other fields designed to improve individual and organization performance and assist in achieving the agency’s mission in Army training for unit readiness.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Technical Instructor is primarily responsible for curriculum revision and maintenance. Technical curriculum may involve Global Combat Support System - Army (GCSS-A), or more highly technical research within regulations, policies, procedures and various websites (such as ARIMS, USAFMSA, LIW, and other related sites).
  • Courses may be instructor based, computer-based, simulator based, interactive, or non-interactive. The instructor uses a computer to organize and draft a curriculum that breaks a complex subject into blocks or units of instruction, creates graphics, and integrates them into maintenance focused curriculum.
  • Job duties for the Subject Matter Expert (SME) and Technical Instructor include the following, but are not limited to: Provide resident staff logistics expertise in the following logistics disciplines: Master Driver, Unit Driver Training Program, maintenance management and shop operations, Supply activities for CL II, VII and IX commodities; Unit Maintained Equipment (UME) key control, security; unit movement, Army wheeled and track vehicle systems, Combat Weapon System (M1A1 Tank and M2 Bradley), GCSS-A as it pertains to Army Status System Reporting (AMSS), daily operations from End User to Maintenance Manager, as well as functions of shop operation; i.e. maintenance publications, Test Measurement, Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE), Army Oil Analysis Program (AOAP) Preventive Maintenance Checks and Services (PMCS), and tool room management.
  • Teaching tailored technical courses in accordance with approved curriculum to maintain proficiency and to evaluate and develop new instructional techniques/courses
  • Incorporation of new curriculum in the teaching process (e.g., incorporate relevant training according to Army GCSS-A)
  • Development and maintenance of classroom techniques that reflect professionalism and good discipline
  • Development of alternative teaching techniques and scenarios to maintain high motivation and interest in the subject areas.
  • While acting as the testing officer, conduct an analysis of test and provide revisions, as necessary
  • Maintenance management practices and procedures, inventories, assist Property Book Officers with serial number validations and logistics readiness reporting.
  • Evaluates maintenance management programs such as Shop Stock Listing, TAMMS, GCSS-A function and operation, Army Test Measurement and Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE), Army Oil Analysis Program (AOAP), Tool Room Operation, Small Arms Maintenance Management, driver’s training program, Modification Work Orders (MWO), Command Maintenance Discipline Program (CMDP, Unit Maintained Equipment (UME) program, Army Award for Maintenance Excellence (AAME) program, Army Material Status System (AMSS) and Maintenance Management Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
  • Informs Team Chief on logistical matters and results of field assessments
  • Provides training and SME guidance to customers all aspects of maintenance operations
  • Provide a comprehensive assessment of training and shall define training requirements to include:
    • An analysis of perishable skills
    • Identification of Terminal Learning Objectives (TLO)
    • Development of outcome metrics
    • Development of test materials and hands-on evaluation for logistics training
  • Prepare and deliver briefings, point papers, reports, fact sheets, and respond to their assigned command.
  • Maintain verification systems to identify deficiencies and shortcomings by examining unit maintenance and supply activities and processes to ensure compliance with applicable Army Regulations, field manuals, technical publications, and FORSCOM policies.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Secret clearance
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 5 years’ experience in the Army logistics field and MOS

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Additional five years of related experience highly desired.
  • Previous experience as a trainer or instructor.
  • Ability to conduct inspections, evaluations, training, assessments and provide accurate regulatory guidance on equipment maintenance operations and policy to Army organization.
  • Have extensive knowledge of maintenance management and shop operations.
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of Army equipment maintenance systems, policies, preventive maintenance and repair procedures.
  • Evaluates maintenance management programs such as Shop Stock Listing, TAMMS, GCSS-A function and operation, Army Test Measurement and Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE), Army Oil Analysis Program (AOAP), Tool Room Operation, Small Arms Maintenance Management, driver’s training program, Modification Work Orders (MWO), Exchange Pricing, Army Award for Maintenance Excellence (AAME) program, Army Material Status System (AMSS) and Maintenance Management Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
  • Knowledge of, and ability to use the Army Logistics Support Agency (LOGSA) web site to include Logistics Intelligence Warehouse (LIW), Army Records Information Management System (ARIMS), Readiness Integrated Database (RIDB), and other Army and civilian logistics web sites.
  • Ability to prepare and present briefings and slide show presentations.
  • Knowledge of Army structure, commands, units, and logistics components.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Up to 50% travel required to provide unit training and assistance, attend conferences and training.
  • Possess a valid driver license.
  • Must have own means of transportation.
  • Good interpersonal skills.

Seeing, hearing, speaking, walking, sitting, climbing, repetitive arm and finger motions, lifting (up to 50 lbs.), pushing, pulling and standing.
  • Be able to stand for prolonged periods in either an outdoor or office environment.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high. Individual must maintain a safe work environment.
