ABOUT THE POSITION

Gann Academy is seeking a part-time History teacher for leave coverage from August 15, 2024, to November 15, 2024. The teacher will plan and deliver lessons from the provided curriculum for two 11th-grade AP US History sections.

Successful candidates will have a passion for History education, a strong background in classroom teaching, curriculum design, and pedagogy, and a commitment to collaborating, reflecting, and growing in their teaching practice. Proven experience in teaching AP US History is desirable. Personal qualities such as creativity, curiosity, perseverance, and flexibility are key, as are effective communication skills with students and families.

This is an in-person, part-time leave coverage position from August 15 to November 15, 2024, and will report to the Director of Humanities.

August 15-16, 1923, and 26-27 will be in-person workdays combining onboarding, professional development, and lesson preparation. Classes begin August 28. 50-minute classes are on a rotating schedule from 8:30 to 3:55 Monday through Thursday, with an earlier 1:50 release on Fridays.

Compensation for this leave coverage position is $13,000 - $16,000, commensurate with relevant work experience and qualifications.

Qualifications


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Teaching Duties:

  • Teach 2 sections of AP United States History.
  • Assess student work and provide grades.
  • Take attendance and manage the classroom.
  • Offer differentiated instruction to serve a wide range of learners.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to plan and adapt curriculum and lessons that support student growth.
  • Use technology and other educational tools to support student learning.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with students, parents, and colleagues in person and via email.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Physical demands include dexterity for office machine/supply operation, including, but not limited to, computers, telephones, electronic calculators, copy machines, and printers. Stooping, bending, reaching for files or supplies, and sitting or standing for extended periods of time are common.
