Please be advised that Six Mile - Nika JV and its subcontractors are rejecting the collective bargaining agreement between the predecessor contractor and Teamsters Local 959.

Employment with members of the Six Mile-Nika JV or its subcontractors under the Base Operation Support Services Contract at the United States Coast Guard Base in Kodiak will be subject to new terms and conditions of employment, subject to certain requirements under Section 4(c) the Service Contract Act or as otherwise required by applicable law.

JOB OVERVIEW

Six Mile, LLC (SML) is seeking a Carpet Layer to provide support to a base operations support services contract in Kodiak, AK! This position lays and installs carpets and a variety of other types of floor coverings.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

• Prepares floors by removing old floor coverings.
• Makes repairs to sub floor or uses leveling compounds needed to prepare sub floor for new floor install.
• Measures, cuts, and installs carpet, carpet padding to size.
• Completes all portions of installing traditional carpet including but not limited to, layout, measuring, cutting, relaxing, seaming, stretching, and tucking.

Is proficient in installing VCT, Linoleum, sheet vinyl, carpet tile, vinyl plank flooring, wood flank flooring and other types of common flooring materials.

• Installs metal edging and metal door strips.
• Transports materials to and from installation site.
• Inspects floor surface to determine condition and detects and corrects imperfections.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

ABOUT YOU

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Valid Driver's License.
• 3 years' experience in a like or similar role.
• Knowledge of acceptable construction maintenance practices including Occupational Safety and Health regulations.
• Knowledgeable and competent to operate hand tools and power tools.
• Experience installing plank flooring, linoleum, tile and other varieties of flooring preferred.
• Must be reliable and possess great attention to detail in completing their duties.
• Ability to pass a background and drug screening.
