Job Description Entry Level Production Helper

Production Helpers work either in the label die-cut area or on the label cutting line:

On the cutting line, Helpers assist the paper cutter who is cutting large skids of paper labels into stacks of 1,000 or 500 for further processing. As the cutter pushes the cut labels down the cutting table, the Helper takes them and processes them (paper banding or placed in small boxes) into boxes on pallets for shipping or places them in bins for further processing in die cut.

In the die-cut area Helpers work in groups of two to three people. Helpers will feed packs of 1,000 or 500 labels into a machine that cuts the square pack of labels into a variety of shapes. As the labels come down the chute after cutting, helpers take the stacks of labels and paper band them (with a paper banding machine). These stacks of labels are then placed on a conveyor for sealing. Helpers then place the sealed products into boxes on pallets to go to the Shipping Department.

In addition to above, Helpers use electric pallet jacks to move pallets and occasionally lift boxes (average weight 35 lbs. but occasionally up to 50 lbs.) onto pallets

Job Description Entry Level Paper Jogger

A Paper Jogger takes lifts of printed material (maximum size of 28 x 40 inches) and “jogs” or “handles” the lifts onto a paper jogging machine –the paper jogger ensures that air is in between the sheets to align the stock for the cutting process. Using an automated scale to obtain required weights for further processing, a paper jogger uses a hand board to straighten the sheets/lifts on the automated jogging machine which then straightens them precisely and to the necessary weight for further processing. While performing the job, the jogger also is inspecting the lifts for print defects.

Label sheets are jogged on skids. These skids of label sheets will eventually be processed through a cutting machine that will cut the label sheets into strips and/or packs of labels for further processing in the plant.

Physical Requirements:

The job requires using both hands to manipulate the paper, the jogging hand board and the necessity to operate the computer machinery of the jogging station.

Paper Jogger positions require standing the entire shift. Paper joggers also routinely push, pull and lift layers and strips of labels. The printed material that is lifted, and pushed and/or pulled is approximately 25 lbs. Paper Joggers also use pallet jacks to move pallets.
