Position Summary:

The Technical Services division of GB (GBTS) is looking to hire a full-time Environmental Field Technician to work and support the Environmental practice area in our Poughkeepsie, New York office. The position will include field assessment/sampling, research, and report preparation.

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform fieldwork for Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs), Phase II ESAs, and other Environmental Property Assessment Projects, such as Ambient Air Quality Monitoring, Natural Attenuation Monitoring, Underground/Above ground Tank Closure Assessments, Contaminated Source Removals, and Other Sub-surface Remediation Projects.
  • The applicant would need to calibrate and operates various air, soil, and groundwater sampling equipment (such as OVA, peristaltic pumps, centrifugal pumps, stabilization meters, depth-to-groundwater) and interprets results of direct-read instruments and lab analysis data. Compiles assessment materials to include field notes, instrument readings, lab analysis, photographic documentation, and site drawings. May assist in producing reports based on company style guide and approach to methodologies. Performs fieldwork and assists with producing deliverables. Mainly responsible for fieldwork and associated field data and photographic documentation.
  • Support outer office projects on an as-needed basis.

 Additional Considerations:

  • Must be able to pass a medical exam for use of a respirator.

Qualifications – External

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree (Geology, Geosciences, Environmental Science, Earth Science, Engineering discipline).
  • Must have valid driver's license and dependable automobile transportation available.
  • Required to survey/inspect client properties; entails negotiating non-public access areas, climbing, extended periods of walking/standing, lifting/carrying 25 pounds, working in extreme weather conditions.
  • Job may require after-hour work, weekend work and some travel.
  • Competent in high school level mathematics a minimum.
  • Basic computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Preferrred:

  • Able to effectively prioritize assignments. Good interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Detail oriented.
  • HAZWOPER certification preferred.
