Duties and Responsibilities

A typical day may include:

• Designing new products, product improvements and product customization using Autodesk Inventor CAD system to include 3D modeling, 2D drawing generation, and finite elements analysis.
• Collaboration with other product development team members as well as project managers.
• Designing parts, fixtures and tooling to support the development of new products.
• Developing and testing product prototypes.
• Performing Engineering and Quality analysis (DFMEA, DFMA, GD&T, Tolerance Analysis, etc.) of designs and prototypes.
• Developing and executing product testing protocols and documenting results.
• Collaborating with Machinists and Manufacturing Engineers to ensure manufacturability of product designs.
• Working with suppliers to support product development and prototyping activities.
• Supporting the manufacturing floor and Quality Engineering if design-related issues arise.
• Support VA/VE initiatives and product sustainment activities.
• All other duties as directed by the Supervisor.

Qualifications

We are searching for a candidate with:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution is preferred, a degree in Physics will be considered.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment with a focus on technical excellence, responsiveness to customers and innovative thinking is required.
• Experience designing and developing new products.
• Mechanical design experience, including formed, sand casted, injection molded machine and forged components is preferred.
• Experience with mechanical and electro-mechanical systems is required.
• Experience applying analytical skills is required.
• Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor is required.
• Experience working successfully in a multi-skilled environment and possession of cross-disciplinary skills or the ability to grasp requisite skills outside of core skill-set is preferred.
• Ability to make independent decisions and a successful track record of influencing key stakeholders, as well as strong interpersonal and communications (oral and written) skills is required.
• Must be confident and capable in a customer-facing role, demonstrate proactive and strategic thinking and be able to handle change and ambiguity.
• Must be able to follow all Company safety policies and procedures.
