We are seeking a diligent and experienced individual to join our team as a Fire & Theft Claims Adjuster. In this role, you will be responsible for investigating, analyzing, and determining liability for property loss damages resulting from fire and/or theft, ensuring timely settlement with claimants.

What does a FIRE AND THEFT CLAIMS ADJUSTER do at GAINSCO?

  • We are seeking a diligent and experienced individual to join our team as a Fire & Theft Claims Adjuster. In this role, you will be responsible for investigating, analyzing, and determining liability for property loss damages resulting from fire and/or theft, ensuring timely settlement with claimants.
  • Process claims according to established guidelines and procedures, ensuring proper documentation is obtained from insured parties before arriving at a settlement.
  • Analyze investigation findings to establish proof of loss, ensuring consistency between damage and reports. Refer questionable claims to the SIU Department as necessary.
  • Correspond with claimants, insureds, body shops, attorneys, police, and fire departments to maintain workflow.
  • Document claims in the system with concise yet sufficient information.
  • Resolve claims up to specific limits by requesting and issuing payments within designated authority levels.
  • Inform customers of the claims process and status, returning calls promptly and making timely contact with all relevant parties.
  • Proactively communicate with key personnel in other departments.

What is required?

Education:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Bachelor’s degree is preferred.

License:

  • Valid Adjuster License in the State of Texas or Florida.
  • Ability to obtain a State required Adjuster license in any state you are assigned.
  • Maintain CE credits as required for each State Adjuster license.

Experience:

  • One or more years of experience in Auto Insurance as a Claims Adjuster required.
  • 1 years of experience as an adjuster in Auto Insurance Fire and Theft claims strongly preferred.
  • Full understanding of auto claims investigations and claims processing.
  • Prior experience in Fire and Theft claims preferred.

Other skills and abilities:

  • Proficiency in general office tasks and basic math.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to effectively manage time and coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong negotiating and active listening skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional when dealing with challenging situations.
  • Logical reasoning skills to identify solutions to problems.
  • Bilingual (Spanish and English) is preferred.
