Summary

The Material Handler II I is responsible for all phases of shipping and receiving, moving products, loading and unloading, inventory counting, and completion of required paperwork.

Other expectations include the ability to perform all the other duties and tasks of the other employees within the department when required or needed.

The Material Handler II must also be knowledgeable and capable of following and enforcing all department and plant rules, policies, and procedures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Inventory of all materials every week.

Communicate with the Production Planner on low material levels.

Maintain an accurate and quality inventory.

Maintain item location knowledge of finished goods and raw materials.

Inventory rotation to accomplish plant F.I.F.O.

Follow established policies and procedures for receiving material into the facility.

Report any damage to materials or facilities.

May be received damaged or damaged once at the plant.

Assist in documenting damaged goods and claims.

Provide accurate and timely shipment verification as requested.

Exercise proper care in handling materials to prevent damage to materials and equipment.

Perform all duties in a safe and timely manner.

Uses the proper safety equipment and demonstrates proper safety procedures.

Performs tasks in a courteous manner when dealing with customers, suppliers, and all personnel.

Reports and documents all safety issues to HR, Lead, and / or Supervisor.

Actively participates in department and plant problem-solving

Utilizes a continuous improvement mindset and assists in identifying opportunities to improve processes

Any other tasks or requirements as assigned by Supervision and Management

Basic computer skills : data entry, scanning, typing, and proofreading.

Ability to file paperwork

Ability to provide quality instructions or cross-training on plant equipment for department employees.

Enter or receive all paperwork into People soft

Print pallet and box stickers for Auto fold into WMS

Receive all raw materials (glass mat, granules, release tape, pallets, wrappers, plastic and paper, slip sheets, shrouds, plastic bags, SBS, paint, LPA, granule bags, super sacks, limestone, etc.

Feed the lines all raw materials they need and get them started with glass mat, release tape, bags, paint, and wraps.

Line calls when the line calls for any issues or items needed.

Receive Sand and limestone and make sure it is off-loaded into the correct silo.

Receive granules and make sure the granule colors are off-loaded into the correct silo.

Planning and scheduling sand and limestone and modify the schedule daily.

Transfer granules from silo to Trailer (Pods).

Make sure sand and limestone levels are full all the time.

Dump trash from the plant into big dumpsters

Product verification at the end of the shift

Inspect wraps and pallets for QA

Clean work stations

Silo flipping

Clean silos (drain, clean them, and refill them with proper colors)

Put away raw materials in an orderly fashion

Answer phone calls from outside carriers

Silo measurements for granules, sand, and limestone

Keep everyone informed on any issues

Log all granules on the log sheet

Rail inventory daily

Glass mat inventory daily

Able to operate equipment

Forklift

Clamp

Boom lift

Scissor lift

Bobcat

Perform any Material Handler I duties as needed for business needs.

Report any unsafe conditions.

Perform other duties assigned by the Supervisor / Leadman.

Must be able to climb a ladder and / or stairs.

Frequent sitting, walking, and standing, and occasional climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and balancing.

Frequent use of eye, hand, and finger coordination enabling the use of office machinery.

Oral and auditory capacity enabling interpersonal communication as well as communication through automated devices such as the telephone.

Occasionally operate business machines.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.

Ability to read and concentrate via computer data entry typing and proofreading.
