Position Summary

POSITION: STUDENT SUPPORT SERVICES
TUTORIAL COORDINATOR
Initial Base: Gadsden Campus
Reports to: Director of Student Support Services (Gadsden)
This Is An At-Will Position For Which The Attainment of Non-Probationary Status (Tenure) is not available. Continued Employment Contingent Upon Funding

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

DUTIES:

  • Manage all tutoring/supplemental instruction activities for SSS participants.
  • Identify, recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate peer and professional tutors.
  • Maintain rosters, reports, and other documentation related to the tutorial program, assigned workshops, and supplemental instruction activities.
  • Coordinate with the Human Resources Department and SSS Office Clerk to ensure proper payment for tutors.
  • Coordinate with tutors on a regular basis concerning student progress.
  • Supervise scheduling of tutorial sessions, review academic progress, and provide academic advisement.
  • Assist with identification, assessment, and selection of eligible project participants and maintain tutorial files.
  • Responsible for accumulation of data and reports for the evaluation of tutoring and GPA of participants
  • Coordinate the coaching program.
  • Advise SSS students pursuing a two-year degree and develop a plan for graduation.
  • Maintain the security and accuracy of student and project data.
  • Compile reports and provide information as requested by the Project Director.
  • Develop and maintain an effective rapport with students, other employees, and the public.
  • Serve on college committees and perform other duties as assigned.
  • Comply with all policies of the Alabama Community College System and the College.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in education, guidance and counseling, developmental education, or a related field required. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Sensitivity to the needs of youth, minorities, the disabled, and others the project may serve.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Familiarity with federal programs.
  • Willingness to travel to other campus locations when necessary.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills.
  • A commitment to the teaching-learning process of the community college and the open-door admission process.

Salary Schedule C-3 – $35,700
