Job Summary: As a Janitorial staff member at SLO Public Market, you will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards throughout our facilities. Your primary duties will involve cleaning and disinfecting common areas, as well as indoor and outdoor restrooms. You will ensure that all areas are kept tidy, sanitary, and presentable for employees, customers, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities:

All Common Areas and Day Care Area:

• Wipe down entry glass doors to remove spots and smudges.
• Disinfect doorknobs, light switches, and other high-touch surfaces.
• Sweep and mop hard-surface flooring on a scheduled basis and as needed.
• Wipe down tables and counter surfaces as needed, both indoors and outdoors.
• Wipe down chairs, both indoor and outdoor.
• Collect all trash and recycling materials. Replace liners as required.
• Perform any other duties as requested by the supervisor.

Indoor & Outdoor Restrooms (Scheduled and/or as needed):

• Disinfect doorknobs, light switches, and other high-touch surfaces.
• Clean mirrors.
• Clean and disinfect all toilets, including basins and both sides of toilet seats.
• Mop all floors with a germicidal disinfectant.
• Clean and remove marks on walls.
• Clean baseboards.
• Collect all trash and recycling materials. Replace liners as needed.
• Restock all dispensers with necessary supplies.

Qualifications:

• Prior experience in janitorial or cleaning roles preferred.
• Ability to follow cleaning procedures and work independently.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining cleanliness standards.
• Physical stamina to perform tasks that involve standing, bending, and lifting.
• Effective communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.

Working Conditions:

• This position may require working flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to accommodate cleaning schedules.
• Work environments may vary and will include indoor and outdoor settings.
• Personal protective equipment may be required when handling cleaning chemicals or performing tasks in potentially hazardous conditions.
