Service writers are responsible for determining the extent of repairs and parts needed for the transportation division. Commitment to safety, strong work ethic and a positive attitude are key components of this position.

Primary Duties:

• Handles all equipment breakdown & repairs including vendor selection, monitoring through completion and payments as needed
• Prepares, audits and completes work orders
• Schedules truck and trailer services with inside and outside shops
• Answers shop phone calls
• Handles driver walk-ups
• Distributes workload to the technicians
• Handles fuel requests
• Determines warranty repairs
• Monitors several reports daily
• Scans documents
• Participates in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals
• Performs other duties as assigned
• Provides leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill
• Complies with all safety policies, practices and procedures. Reports all unsafe activities to supervisor and/or Human Resources

Physical Requirements:

• Regularly required to talk or hear; stand; walk; sit; lift up to 25 lbs.
• Occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; taste or smell; lift up to 50 lbs.

Work Environment:

• Regularly exposed to wet or humid (non-weather) conditions
• Occasionally exposed to work near moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outdoor weather conditions
• Well-lit, heated and/or air-conditioned indoor office/shop environment with adequate ventilation
• Moderate noise level

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Basic personal computer skills including electronic mail, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.
• Possesses multiple technical skills related to a Transportation Shop

• Location: 50 Commerce Drive, Morton IL
• Pay Range: Starts at $16.00 and may increase dependent on experience.
