A growing, Houston-based professional services firm, G&A Partners is currently seeking a Sr. Information Security Engineer to join its team at the corporate office or G&A satellite office located in Houston or Dallas, TX.

The Senior Information Security Engineer provides direct support to business and IT staff on security related issues. This position works with management to develop and implement security for a variety of IT areas which may include data, systems, networks, and web across the entire organization. The Information Security Engineer will work with the Data Governance Team to assist with incident response, forensic analysis and prepare status reports on security matters and response to breaches.

Responsibilities

• Assists with the development, implementation, maintenance, and updating of security policies and procedures including, but not limited to, user log-on, authentication rules, security breach escalation procedures, security auditing procedures, and use of firewall, and encryption routines.
• Works on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.
• Routinely reviews and analysis various security controls to ensure all systems are adequately protected and any new threats are mitigated by applying appropriate fixes such as configuration changes or security updates.
• Subscribes to threat information databases to stay current on evolving threats and prepare mitigation steps according to industry recommended best practices.
• Reviews investigations from our incident response system and threat monitoring systems.
• Works on complex security administration issues.
• Works with management to develop and implement security strategies.
• Manages assigned security projects.
• Defines security baseline and manages endpoint security controls.
• Serves as a subject matter expert in enterprise-wide security initiatives spanning public and private cloud platforms such as Azure and VMware.

Other Duties:

• Assists other system engineers with projects if necessary.
• Serves as an escalation point for assigned products or systems.

Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree with a focus on Information Security is preferred or verifiable experience in Information Security practice with a minimum 5 years of working experience in a Security Engineer role is acceptable.

Skills & Experience:

• Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar security engineering role is required

Certifications/Licenses:

• Relevant technical and industry certifications, such as CASP , are preferred
