Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Prior Authorization Specialist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will have experience in medical records, insurance verification, and coding, ensuring efficient prior authorization processes. Hours are flexible.
Duties:
- Review and process prior authorization requests for medical procedures and services
- Verify insurance coverage and eligibility for patients
- Communicate with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and patients to gather necessary information
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and managed care guidelines
- Utilize ICD-9 and ICD-10 codes accurately for authorization submissions
- Maintain accurate documentation of all prior authorization activities
Experience:
- Previous experience in a medical office or dental office setting preferred
- Proficiency in medical coding and terminology
- Familiarity with insurance verification processes
- Knowledge of office procedures related to prior authorizations
- Understanding of managed care requirements and guidelines
