Special Education Teacher - Contract

Location: San Jose, CA, 95119

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and manage Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) using a web-based system.

  • Plan and record your monthly work schedule in advance.

  • Meet regularly with parents or guardians of each student to work on behavior contracts.

  • Work closely with the school's Support Staff to develop a comprehensive program.

  • Diagnose and program instruction for individual learners.

  • Implement and maintain pupil evaluations.

  • Coordinate a class transition program for each child.

  • Prepare required state and/or county reports.

  • Comply with the rules and regulations set forth in the California Education Code.

  • Facilitate team processes including problem solving, pre-referral intervention, and IEP development.

  • Provide support to staff in all areas related to mild/moderate and/or moderate/severe disabilities.

  • Direct assigned instructional assistants.

  • Collect student performance data.

  • Create a learning environment with high expectations.

  • Develop a modified curriculum for multiple grade levels.

  • Utilize appropriate educational materials.

  • Participate in ongoing, relevant professional development.

  • Maintain knowledge of current Special Education regulations.

  • Utilize a positive behavioral interventions and support system.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university.

  • A valid Educational Specialist Teaching Credential authorizing specialized services to students with Mild/Moderate and/or Moderate/Severe disabilities.

  • A valid CA Driver's License and/or the ability to deliver in-person special education teaching services to students at multiple sites.

  • Knowledge of current regulations pertaining to Special Education.

  • Experience with diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds.
